Holiday Camps, Tournaments & School Clubs

Holiday Clubs

Kirsty delivers junior badminton camps throughout the school holidays. These sessions offer a combination of technical and tactical drills, team building activities, problem solving challenges and matchplay within a fun, safe and positive environment. With assistance from other coaches, this means Kirsty is able to work with smaller groups, implementing coaching specific to their needs.

Tournaments

Junior Tournaments are run during school holidays – a great way to apply your training in a competitive environment. Adult Tournaments are also run throughout the year – social tournaments & tournaments for club/county players.

Schools

Throughout the year, Kirsty delivers quality school badminton sessions around the county catering for all ages, ranging from nursery to sixth form students. The clubs are very popular and they are linked to evening and weekend classes for those wishing to progress further.

The pupils at St Luke’s School thoroughly enjoyed the badminton coaching sessions that Kirsty provided. The lessons were engaging, well structured and appropriate to the children’s ability which enabled them to show a progression of key skills.’

Emma Hay, Year 4 Teacher, St Luke’s Primary

Kirsty has been visiting our school annually (for half a term) for five years and is a wonderful coach. Her sessions allow the children to consolidate their skills whilst having loads of fun. The children are always excited when they know it is badminton and you see them visibly improve from session to session. Her activities develop skills, but are also fun games in their own right, and the children have developed an excellent grounding in the Sarah Painter, Year 5 & 6 Teacher, Corfe Castle Primary of the sport. She is always flexible with numbers/groupings and is a warm and positive leader with pupils of all abilities. Kirsty has also run a popular after school club. She has been reliable and punctual and I recommend her highly to any school wishing to cover their racket sports in the curriculum or to offer an engaging extra-curricular activity.’

‘I am writing to thank you for your continued service to Bournemouth School and its students. The service you provide us as part of our extra-curricular programme ensures that many of our students gain access to quality coaching. This also gives them the opportunity to join external clubs in the area through your knowledge and guidance. Our aim of ensuring and encouraging them to remain anti e through sport and participation into their adult lives is enhanced by the essential work that you do. Many thanks for all your hard work.’

Jason White, Bournemouth Grammar School

Kirsty Wilcox has been a fabulous badminton coach for my class of 6 and 7 year olds at St. Thomas Garnet’s School, Bournemouth. She has been working with us over the last year in our P.E. lessons.  Her sessions are exciting, varied and progressive. Kirsty is responsible for setting up the courts, working with children of different abilities and monitoring their progress; this involves planning fun, skilful activities, guiding children into groups and maintaining their interest and enthusiasm for the sport – the children are always well motivated and excited when they realise they have a badminton lesson with Kirsty. I recommend Kirsty very highly and thoroughly enjoy working with this excellent badminton teacher.’

Sue Verstage, Year 2 Teacher, St Thomas Garnet School

Kirsty strives to facilitate new sessions and enhance the opportunity for everyone to play badminton, but ultimately, she wants to ensure longevity with players continuing to enjoy sport for life. Overall, it is a great social sport for meeting like-minded people and Kirsty can help to improve your skills and grow in confidence.
